Adams Leclair LLP Welcomes New Partner Ted Baum

March 1, 2024

As of March 1, 2024, Ted Baum officially joins the litigation firm of Adams Leclair LLP as a partner.  Ted has spent his entire legal career in the Rochester area and brings more than 30 years of legal experience to Adams Leclair.

“I already know many of the lawyers at Adams Leclair from prior cases,” explained Ted. “I can’t wait to be a part of a group of lawyers I have always respected.”

”It is very gratifying to add someone of Ted’s caliber and experience to our firm,” declared Paul Leclair, who worked briefly with Ted many years ago at a prominent Rochester law firm.  “Even though we have taken different paths over the years, this seems like the perfect ‘full circle moment’ to have Ted join our partnership.

After graduating from Albany Law School, Ted focused on construction and surety litigation, and he defended damage and personal injury claims arising from construction projects. He worked for Ernstrom & Dreste, LLP for 19 years and, for the past nine years, has been a partner at McElroy, Deutsch. Mulvaney & Carpenter, LLP

“Coming up with a solution for a client is what excites me the most about litigation—whether that means resolving a dispute amicably or prevailing in court or at arbitration,” reveals Ted.  “Each case provides the opportunity to learn about something, usually in great detail, which means I am constantly learning. I enjoy the challenge each new case presents.”

Among the notable victories Ted has secured for his clients is his recent successful federal court jury verdict in The Pike Company, Inc. v. Universal Concrete Products. Regarding that case, Ted remarked “I believe that my command of the facts helped persuade the jury to find in favor of my client.”

Ted is equally proud of a recent victory by summary judgment in Linda Storonky v. National Railroad Passenger Corporation, d/b/a Amtrak, also in federal court.  He points out that this resulted in the dismissal of a personal injury case on behalf of the national railroad company. “My team’s careful and methodical approach to the case was instrumental to our win.”

Ted is peer rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating, and is listed in Best Lawyers® in the areas of Construction law and Litigation – Construction. He is recognized in Super Lawyers® for Upstate New York, and he is a member of the Commercial and Construction Industry Panel of Arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association.

Outside of his professional life, Ted and his wife, Mary, enjoy being empty nesters with their Collie and Cavalier King Charles mix, Charlie.  Their three daughters all live close by in the Rochester area.

The Brighton resident says he enjoys traveling, especially exploring wine regions, and appreciates pairing food with just the right vintage.

“While I am not a skilled chef, I am enthusiastic about cooking,” exclaims Ted.

Ted’s addition to the firm is part of the continued growth of Adams Leclair, reflected in the recent move to the 12th floor of Legacy Tower.
