Lauren Maddox installed to GRAWA Board of Directors
May 29, 2024
Associate Lauren Maddox has been installed to the Board of Directors of the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys (GRAWA) for the 2024-2025 term.
Lauren is co-chairing the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee, which considers diversity as an inclusive concept encompassing gender, race, color, ethnic and national origin, religion, sexual orientation, age, and disability.
“I am committed to offering a different perspective for GRAWA events and opportunities and hope to make a positive impact,” said the attorney who moved to Rochester from Florida.
Lauren joined Adams Leclair in the summer of 2023 and quickly immersed herself in firm activities. She reached out to organizations she felt would help her assimilate into the legal community.
“Being new to Rochester, GRAWA was recommended as a great way to become involved and meet other attorneys. I attended GRAWA events and went to DEI committee meetings and gained an understanding of how the DEI committee is a big part of the work that GRAWA does,” said Lauren.
In particular, Lauren is excited about administering the GRACE Scholarship, which is an intentional commitment from GRAWA to increase diversity in the legal profession. LSAT scholarships are given to women of color (WOC) who have graduated from a local Greater Rochester high school or college/university to inspire them to enter law school and ultimately join in the practice of law.
Partner Stacey Trien is a Past President of GRAWA and encourages all attorneys at Adams Leclair to join this very active chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of New York.
“I am grateful that Lauren is volunteering her time to GRAWA and will be a leader and mentor to other women in the legal field,” said Stacey.
The annual installation and awards dinner was held at Locust Hill Country Club with the keynote address being given by the former Secretary to the Governor, Melissa DeRosa.
