Meet the Adams Leclair 2024 Summer Associates: Denice Cioara and Julia Biehler

May 30, 2024

Adams Leclair LLP is thrilled to have two summer associates working for the firm from May until August of 2024. Both women have experience with medical science and technology, and share a desire to be advocates for others.

Denice Cioara is a Lockport native who finished a degree in sociology at University at Buffalo before attending Syracuse University College of Law.  Denice is in her second year and has competed in appellate advocacy competitions on both the local and national level.

During high school and undergraduate years, Denice volunteered at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center transporting patients and medical supplies.  She has also worked as a teacher’s aide, a reference assistant at the SU Law Library, and served as a Law Fellow for the New York State Inspector General researching workers’ compensation law.

“When I was younger, I wanted a job where I could help people feel heard and understood in a world where there is always another problem bigger than our own,” reflected Denice. “My desire to become a lawyer is rooted in my commitment to bettering the lives of others through kindness, empathy, and advocacy.”

Julia Biehler just finished her first year at Vanderbilt Law School in Nashville and knew she wanted to return to Rochester for the summer.  She grew up in Fairport and her family lives and works in the area, so it made sense to research local litigation firms.

“What first drew me to Adams Leclair is the collegial atmosphere that valued work life balance. I found this to be even more true after I had my in-person interviews and got to meet more of the firm,” said Julia.

Julia started her collegiate journey thinking she wanted to be a medical doctor but during COVID-19, she worked as a contract tracer for the NYS Department of Health.  She was introduced to the interplay between science, the law, and public health.

“This combination intellectually intrigued me, and it still fulfilled the aspect of medicine I loved the most, which is helping others,” said Julia. “I have been very happy with my choice to switch from pre-med and have thoroughly enjoyed my first year of law school.”

Each summer associate will be given legal assignments which will be overseen by the partners, associates, and staff.  They will perform a range of litigation exercises and be encouraged to take on tasks such as research, preparing summaries, and learning new advocacy skills.

Here’s to a great summer experience at Adams Leclair!
