Area construction professionals and industry leaders are invited to attend the 3rd Annual Construction Law Update on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, a half-day seminar hosted by Adams Leclair LLP, a prominent construction and litigation law firm. Led by senior attorney Tony Adams, the 2025 session is designed to equip contractors, developers, and construction executives with critical legal updates and strategies for complying in the construction sector.

Stacey Trien will open the seminar with a focused presentation on Employment Law, particularly the legal implications of changes in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies, updates to I-9 verification procedures, and increased ICE enforcement. Attendees will benefit from recent case examples and practical guidance on adapting HR practices in the construction industry.

9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Recurring Contract Issues

Presenter: Paul Leclair

Paul Leclair will cover essential contract developments including MWBE (Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises) guidance updates, prevailing wage compliance, and the impact of tariffs on construction contracts. This session is vital for project managers and contract administrators navigating an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

10:15 AM – 11:45 AM: Mechanic’s Liens & Trust Fund Diversion

Presenters: Dan Adams and Rich Bell

This session will feature two key legal topics. Dan Adams will present on Mechanic’s Lien issues, offering a breakdown of lien rights, enforcement strategies, and common litigation pitfalls.  Rich Bell will address Trust Fund Diversion, a critical area of concern for contractors and subcontractors handling project funds.

Associates Jack Cassidy and Kelly Geary will present brief case analyses throughout the morning, highlighting recent rulings and their implications for construction clients.

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch & Keynote Address

Keynote Speaker: Joe Hogan

The seminar will conclude with a networking lunch and keynote address by Joe Hogan, Vice President of Building Services for Associated General Contractors of New York State (AGCNYS). Hogan will provide strategic insights into the latest state and federal construction legislation, and how these laws will shape contract administration, compliance, and dispute resolution moving forward.
