Adams Leclair LLP is excited to announce the addition of a new associate, Lauren Maddox, to the Rochester office. Maddox is re-locating from Miami, Florida where she most recently worked for Butler Weihmuller Katz Craig, LLP. For most of her legal career, she has specialized in insurance defense and homeowners’ disputes.

Lauren explained, “My most notable cases have been for Liberty Mutual where I prevailed on Motions for Summary Judgment. In these cases, I argued that the insureds failed to comply with conditions precedent prior to filing suit, and that coverage for their loss was therefore barred.”

Lauren Maddox received her juris doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law but it was while she was pursuing a degree in political science from the University of North Carolina that she decided to go to law school. “I interned with Legal Aid of Durham and worked on cases for children who were struggling with school. It was a rewarding experience that taught me how attorneys can make a difference in people’s everyday lives and in their communities.”

Before deciding to leave Florida, Lauren researched local law firms that could match her professional expertise and personal goals. “Adams Leclair has a reputation as having very knowledgeable and skilled attorneys,” reflected Lauren. “It was apparent when I first visited the office that everyone at Adams Leclair enjoys the work they do, and I look forward to being part of a team that clients can trust to work diligently in their best interests.”

Lauren was already familiar with Rochester having visited the community with her future husband. “My fiancé’s family is from this area. As a native Floridian, I came to appreciate the natural beauty of upstate New York, even during the winter! Plus, I heard very positive things about the professionalism of the legal community so I knew this would be a good move.”
