Anthony Adams Receives “Lawyer of the Year” Distinction from The Best Lawyers of America®

Founding partner Anthony Adams, Jr. has been named Best Lawyers® 2024 Construction Law “Lawyer of the Year” in Rochester, NY. “Lawyer of the Year” honors are awarded annually to only one lawyer per practice area in each region based on feedback from their peers, making it a singular honor.

Since 2008, this is the eighth time Adams has received a “Lawyer of the Year” distinction in either construction law or construction litigation.
“I am honored to receive this recognition and am grateful for the team that supports me at Adams Leclair, plus the many clients who inspire me to be the best advocate I can be,” reflected Adams.

Adams was admitted to the New York State bar in 1981 and completed a two-year clerkship for New York State Supreme Court Justice David O. Boehm before starting his career in commercial litigation and all aspects of construction law. His practice has involved both private and public contracting, including contract and dispute negotiation, claims litigation, labor issues, governmental compliance, and other general business matters.

“Tony is truly a statesman of Adams Leclair. Everyone at the firm turns to him for guidance,” said partner Paul Leclair. ”His wealth of knowledge is enormous and he is very generous with his time, expertise, and consideration for his clients.”

Adams practices in state and federal courts, including appeals work. He has successfully argued three cases in the New York State Court of Appeals, which is New York’s highest court. He also practices before various arbitral forums and before government agencies, including the New York State Department of Labor and the National Labor Relations Board. He has lectured on construction law, construction litigation and fiduciary litigation. He has recently become admitted to the American Arbitration Association’s panel of arbitrators. He is also a member of the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law and the Associated General Contractors Labor and Employment Law Council.

Adams is a dedicated husband to Evelyn, his wife of 42 years and their three children and eight grandchildren. He also engages in community service particularly for the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rochester, of which he is immediate past chairman of the Board of Directors. He is also a trustee on the Rochester Museum and Science Center Board and serves as a Government Relations Committee Member for the Associated General Contractors, New York State Chapter.
